Summer School “Central and South Eastern European Management”

The Summer School “Central and South Eastern European Management” has been approved and is financially supported by the European Commission as an Erasmus Intensive Programme.

In 2010, this Summer School took place in Zwolle/Netherlands. In charge with the organisation and implementation of the Summer School in Zwolle was Ms. Ria Paardekooper-Schilde MSc, head of studies Professional Core and Experiental Learning, Windesheim Honours College.

Responsible for international project management is Ms. Iris Schirl, coordinator of EU-projects, University of Applied Sciences bfi Vienna.

Beside Windesheim UAS/Honours College and UAS bfi Vienna the following partner universities have participated in the Summer School by sending students and/ or lecturers:
·         „Politehnica” University of Timisoara, Romania (responsible for IP 2009)
·         Katholike Hogeschool Leuven, Belgium
·         Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Germany
·         University of Antwerp, Belgium
·         Arcada Polytechnic, Finnland
·         Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry Brno, Czech Republic
·         Budapest College of Management, Hungary
·         Izmir University of Economics, Turkey

The Summer School consisted of four modules, each of them lasting two days:
·         Central and South Eastern European Economics
·         Central and South Eastern European Policy Studies
·         European Business Law
·         Management Game

Furthermore, the Summer School included the following activities: Excursions, Evening Sessions, Social Programme (e.g. sightseeing tour).

The courses were taught in English by lecturers from the participating universities. On successful completion of all 4 courses and attendance of the excursion and evening sessions students have been granted 4 ECTS credits. All participating institutions have agreed that the acquired credits can substitute for other courses in their curriculum on the basis of a learning agreement.

There was no participation fee for the students from the participating universities. The following costs of the programme were covered:
·         Training materials
·         Accommodation
·         75% of the costs of transportation to Zwolle
·         Excursions
·         Social Programme.

The Summer School especially aimed at students who were not able to go abroad for a whole semester. They had the possibility to work together with students from other European countries within the framework of this programme and improve their cross-cultural competences and broaden their international network.
